SkinPen microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses a precision device to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This process stimulates the body's natural healing response, leading to improved skin texture, tone, and overall appearance. The SkinPen device employs fine, sterile needles to create tiny punctures in the skin, which promotes collagen and elastin production, essential for youthful and healthy skin.
Why is SkinPen better than other microneedling devices?
Precision and Control: SkinPen is designed with advanced technology to ensure precise and consistent needle depth. This allows for more controlled treatment and targeted results compared to other devices that may not offer the same level of precision.
FDA-Cleared and Safe: SkinPen is FDA-cleared, ensuring it meets rigorous safety and effectiveness standards. It’s designed to minimize discomfort and reduce the risk of side effects, offering a safer option for microneedling.
Versatility: The SkinPen is suitable for all skin types and colors, making it a versatile choice for various skin concerns. Its adjustable settings allow for customization based on individual needs and treatment areas.
Efficiency: SkinPen's design allows for faster treatments with minimal downtime, meaning you can achieve your desired results more quickly and with less disruption to your daily routine.

ProGen PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a cutting-edge cosmetic treatment that uses your own blood to rejuvenate and improve your skin. This FDA-approved, minimally invasive procedure is effective in addressing signs of aging and various skin concerns.
How is PRP performed?
The process begins with drawing a small amount of your blood, which is then placed in a sterile container. The blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the plasma. The resulting PRP, rich in growth factors and cytokines, is then applied topically to the skin.
What is PRP microneedling?
PRP microneedling combines microneedling with PRP treatment. During this procedure, a device with fine needles creates microscopic channels in the skin, stimulating the body’s natural healing response. PRP is then applied to these channels, promoting collagen production and skin repair.
What skin issues can PRP and microneedling address?
PRP microneedling can effectively treat a variety of skin concerns, including:
Acne scars
Surgical scars
Wrinkles
Fine lines
Hyperpigmentation
Sun damage
Large pores
Uneven skin texture
Is PRP treatment safe?
Yes, PRP is safe because it uses your own blood, which minimizes the risk of allergic or immune reactions. It is suitable for all skin types and colors.
How does PRP benefit the skin?
PRP contains proteins and growth factors that help repair skin tissue and promote collagen production, leading to smoother, more even-toned skin.

The frequency of microneedling treatments typically depends on your individual skin needs and goals.
Standard Treatment Schedule:
Initial Series: For comprehensive skin rejuvenation, a package of three microneedling sessions is often recommended. These treatments are spaced about 4 weeks apart. This schedule allows your skin adequate time to heal and produce collagen between sessions, optimizing the effectiveness of each treatment.
Maintenance: After completing the initial series, you may benefit from maintenance treatments every 3 to 6 months, depending on your skin condition and desired outcomes.
Single Treatment Uses:
Glow-Up: If you're looking to enhance your skin’s appearance for a special event or simply want a refreshed, radiant look, a single microneedling session can provide an immediate glow. The procedure promotes a smoother texture and a more even skin tone, making it an excellent choice for achieving a noticeable, luminous effect.
Preventative Care: For those interested in stepping up their skincare routine and preventing early signs of aging, a single microneedling treatment can also be a great option. It helps to stimulate collagen production and maintain skin health, making it a proactive measure to keep your skin looking youthful and vibrant.
By tailoring your microneedling schedule to your specific goals, whether for a special occasion or ongoing skincare maintenance, you can effectively enhance and preserve your skin’s appearance.

The downtime following a SkinPen microneedling treatment is generally minimal. Most people experience some redness and swelling, similar to a mild sunburn, which typically lasts for about 1 to 3 days. You can usually return to your normal activities immediately after the procedure, though you may want to avoid strenuous exercise and heavy sweating for the first 24 to 48 hours.
What to Expect During the Healing Process:
Immediate Post-Treatment: After your SkinPen treatment, your skin will likely appear red and feel warm. This redness is normal and should subside within a few hours to a day. You may also experience some mild swelling, which usually resolves within 1 to 2 days.
Day 1-3: The redness and swelling may persist for the first 1 to 3 days. Your skin might feel dry or tight, and you may notice some mild bruising or tiny pinpoint scabs where the microneedles created micro-injuries. It’s essential to keep your skin hydrated and follow post-treatment instructions provided POSHPOD.
Day 4-7: By the fourth day, the redness should start to fade, and the skin will begin to heal. Any scabbing or peeling that occurs is a normal part of the healing process. Avoid picking at your skin to prevent scarring and ensure the best results.
Week 2: Your skin will start to show signs of improved texture and tone as collagen production increases.
Ongoing Results: The full benefits of your SkinPen treatment will continue to develop over the next several weeks to months as collagen and elastin production progresses.
Overall, SkinPen microneedling has a relatively short recovery time, and with proper care, you can quickly return to your regular routine while enjoying the rejuvenating effects of the treatment.

General Microneedling Preparation:
Avoid Extreme Sun Exposure: Limit extreme sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen in the days leading up to your treatment. Sunburned skin can increase the risk of complications and affect the results.
Skip Certain Skincare Products: Discontinue using retinoids, exfoliants, and other strong active ingredients at least 3-5 days before your treatment. These can make your skin more sensitive and prone to irritation.
Hydrate Your Skin: Ensure your skin is well-hydrated in the days prior to your treatment. Drink plenty of water and use a gentle, hydrating moisturizer.
Avoid Blood Thinners: Refrain from taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or other non-essential blood-thinning medications or supplements like fish oil and vitamin E for at least 7 days before your treatment. These can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising.
Cleanse Your Skin: On the day of your treatment, come with a clean face. Ensure your skin is free from makeup, dirt, and oils to provide a clean surface for the procedure. Of course, we will also clean your face... but the cleaner the better!
Follow Numbing Cream Instructions: Adhere to any instructions given regarding the application of numbing cream. This will help ensure comfort during the treatment.
Preparation for PRP Microneedling:
Follow all general Microneedling preparation steps (1-6) listed above.
Hydrate and Rest: Drink plenty of water and ensure you’re well-rested. Proper hydration and rest are crucial for the optimal functioning of your blood, which impacts the PRP component of the treatment.
Prepare for Blood Draw: For the PRP component, a small amount of your blood will be drawn. Ensure you’re prepared for this step; there's no need for fasting, but being hydrated helps with blood draw.
Avoid Alcohol and Caffeine: Refrain from consuming alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours before your appointment. These substances can affect hydration levels and blood flow, impacting the PRP quality and overall treatment.
By following these preparation guidelines, including arriving with a clean face and properly applying numbing cream, you can help ensure that your microneedling or PRP microneedling treatment is effective and as comfortable as possible.
